Quiet Day Reflection: Freedom in Creation
Our Quiet Day began with Morning Prayer using Freedom in Creation and Pilgrim Prayers, reflecting on Psalm 19:1–4 and Romans 8:19–23. We explored how God’s creation remains constant through the changing seasons of our lives, revealing God’s abundance and faithfulness. We also prayed for those in positions of authority, asking for wisdom and a commitment to peace and justice.
Participants journeyed through six creative prayer stations, reflecting on light and darkness, growth, the seasons, our relationship with creation, and the gift of resting in God’s presence. The theme of freedom continued as we remembered the Tolpuddle Martyrs and reflected on where we can offer signs of hope, inspired by the words, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
In our closing reflections, the image of The Audacity of Hope—a harp with one remaining string—reminded us that even in difficult times, God can bring beauty and hope. Each of us still has something to offer, and God’s light continues to shine through every season of life.
